DIANA
KING
Chapel Bookstore Manager
Diana was born in Mt. Clemmons, Michigan in 1960
and settled in Tucson in 1970. During that
ten-year period, she and her family lived in
Michigan, Georgia, Japan, and the Philippines
while her father served in the Air Force. Living
overseas sheltered her and her 3 sisters from
many of the things happening in the United States at that time, so when they returned and made
a home in Tucson, culture shock was a force to be reckoned with. Things that were just part of everyday life to many of her new friends were completely new to her--things such as older siblings that were hippies, the drug culture, even rock and roll music.
As adolescence approached, the need for acceptance by her peers became greater. Stepping into the counter-culture of the 70's was inevitable as rebellion grew. During her turbulent teen years she also began to feel something
missing in her life, which led her down a
path of looking into different religions. She
looked into Buddhism, Middle Eastern religions, New Age and even the
occult. After she graduated from high school,
Diana planned on moving to Colorado to attend Colorado State University, but before doing so,
she took on a job at Fed
Mart to build up some savings to prepare for the move. It was at this job that she began meeting people her own age
who were born-again Christians. She politely shrugged off their witnessing attempts, thinking that it was okay for them, but it just wasn't for her. Then she met a young man named John King.
This young man who was so on fire for Christ, became her best friend, and it was he who led Diana to the Lord. They married on Easter Sunday in April of 1980 and were blessed with a beautiful little girl, Angela, in 1985. They began attending Calvary Chapel of Tucson in June of 1988.
Diana has been involved with many ministries over the years, including musical evangelism, Vacation Bible School,
women's retreats, street witnessing, and leading women's Bible studies. She considers it a blessing and a honor to co-labor with her management team and an awesome group of volunteers in serving the Lord through the bookstore.
